After four losing trips to the Super Bowl in the 1990s, some football fans might think Buffalo, New York sports fans have had enough of the "big game." But fans in the area still get together for the final game of the National Football League season: some for the party, some for the commercials, and some even watch the game. If you're a Buffalo sports fan in the Amherst area looking to get out of the house and enjoy the game with friends and maybe make some new ones, check out one of these local sports bars, featuring plenty of televisions, food, and fun.
Buffalo Roadhouse Grill - this Tonawanda establishment picked up where the old Roadhouse Grill left off, but brought in a lot of Buffalo style. The sports bar area, which is very large, is called "The Penalty Box," and features seating at the bar and at high tables around the bar. In the center of the bar area is a "Jumbotron" with four HD televisions, and scattered throughout the area are seven additional TVs. Traditional Sunday specials during Bills games include a $12 wings and pitcher special - expect similar good deals for Super Bowl Sunday.
Transit Lanes - combine pre-game bowling with the Super Bowl at this Williamsville bowling alley, whose Kegler's Sports Lounge features a huge projection television for the game as well as at least a dozen smaller TVs in the bar area and scattered throughout the seating area. Food in the lounge is excellent - you'll find pizza and wings, as well as treats like stuffed banana peppers, quesadilias, tacos, wraps, and hoagies. Drink specials may vary for the big game, but current Sunday specials include $2 draft beer and $6.50 pitchers of Labatts Blue and Blue Light.
Buffalo Brew Pub - New York State's oldest brew pub is located in Williamsville, and has more than 30 beers on tap, including three to five of their own brews daily. The long bar area has a number of televisions behind it for your viewing pleasure, and is separated from the main dining area, making it a great place to take the family for a pre-game or first-half meal, as there are TVs in the dining area as well. The menu, available at the bar or in the dining area, includes a variety of Buffalo favorites as well as more exotic foods like Buffalo burgers, Spars (Bratwurst), and Grilled Swordfish.
